Coaches Corner
1) Register with USA Hockey: (AAHA reimburses the $53, ONLY FOR COACHES)
Print the receipt with the registration number and turn into AAHA Registrar. Please turn this in as soon as registration is completed by emailing a copy of the confirmation sheet to office.aaha@gmail.com or putting a copy in the mailbox outside the AAHA office. Don't wait until all the requirements are completed.

2) Consent to Treat: Print, complete, sign, and turn into AAHA Registrar.

3) SafeSport Training: Must be completed every year.

4) Background screening: Complete the background screening every other year through Minnesota Hockey. There is a $30 fee for the background screening. Turn in a copy the receipt to AAHA Registrar for reimbursement. For returning coaches, please complete the process only if the link states not currently “cleared” and NEED to be re-screened.

5) Coaching Certification Level training (1, 2, 3, or 4): Find and register for a clinic at USA Hockey.
AAHA reimburses for the coaching clinic. Turn in a copy the receipt to AAHA Registrar for reimbursement.
*Must be completed by DEC. 31.
6) Online Age Group Modules: Coaches must complete the online module for the appropriate age group they will coach. These are valid for life, which means once the specific age module is completed a coach does not need to ever repeat the same age module again.
Register for an online module by clicking on the link below, and turn in a copy of the registration receipt to AAHA Registrar for reimbursement. If unsure about the age modules needed, check with the AAHA Registrar by providing the USA Registration Confirmation and age level of coaching.

7) MN Hockey Coach Concussion Certification - MN Hockey Board adopted requirements for coaches and assistant coaches to obtain concussion training prior to participating in any team activity. All head and assistant coaches are required to complete training every 2 seasons. MN Hockey recommends training from the CDC or if a coach completes the age module the prior or current season this is considered trained. Also, this training may be a part of the coaches meeting AAHA holds at the beginning of the season. Coaches must indicate on the form where and when training was completed or attach a copy of the completion certificate. Print a copy of the form: Concussion Certification

USA Hockey, MN Hockey, and AAHA set these requirements to ensure a strong and consistent program. AAHA greatly values and appreciates the time, commitment, and energy devoted by coaches. Coaches are the backbone of healthy program.
