About AAHA

The Alexandria Area Hockey Association (AAHA) is a nonprofit youth hockey organization based in Alexandria, Minnesota, dedicated to fostering a lifelong love of hockey in young players throughout the region. As the home of the Cardinals, AAHA’s mission is to provide a quality environment where youth can learn, grow, and enjoy the sport of hockey—whether they’re stepping on the ice for the very first time or competing at advanced levels.

Founded in 1982, AAHA serves hundreds of families each season, offering a comprehensive hockey experience for children ages 4–16. Our programs include beginner clinics, skill development opportunities, travel teams, and annual events such as the Big Ole Hockey Tournament. These programs are designed to build fundamental skills, promote teamwork and sportsmanship, and ensure every player feels welcome and supported on and off the ice.

At AAHA, hockey is about more than just competition, it's about community. We strive to create a positive, inclusive atmosphere where players and their families can connect, have fun, and celebrate the highs (and learn from the lows) together. Our volunteer board, coaches, and supporters work year-round to make youth hockey accessible and rewarding for all participants.

Home ice for the Association is at the PrimeWest Runestone Community Center in Alexandria, a central hub for hockey, skating and community events.
